Romans 15:13 – May the God of HOPE fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The world is a very dangerous place to live in especially in these days. We are not in a position to control anything as life is fleeting. Many are afraid and anxious.We don’t have enough of anything. There are money issues, health scares, broken families, war in our communities, death of loved ones and the list goes on. We can’t seem to ‘catch a breath.’ Hope doesn’t seem to be relevant anymore hence some turn to various ‘fixes’ for temporary comfort. This week, i want to present to you, HOPE in Christ.

The song says, ‘turn your eyes on Jesus, look full in His wonderful face and the things of this world will become strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace.’ If in this life we have hope, we would be men most miserable (1 Corinthians 15:19). Hope is meant to be in Christ as He is constant and does not change. Doesn’t it make sense to put our hope in someone that remains the same even in moments when we are changing. When we don’t know what is next and how we are going to solve the next problem? You may say, i want something or someone i can see and feel. Hope is not tangible, it cannot be seen or felt. Does this mean, we should do away with it? Absolutely not. We throw the ball up in the air, with the expectation that it will fall back to the ground because of the law of gravity. Hope is the law of the Kingdom of God. It is having expectation of the unknown to make itself visible in the known (natural).

The hope that is needed in the world today, is not that of ‘wild expectation or selfish desires,’ but rather hope that relies completely on the finished work of the cross. Its hope in Jesus Christ and what He has done for us. 1 Peter 1:3 tells us that when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are born again in a living hope (God). All of what we seek is already in Christ. It is in Him that we have complete joy and peace but it requires us to have steady trust and focus on Him alone; which does makes sense because how can you want to experience the best of something or someone new without exercising absolute confidence and trust. This confidence and trust allow for the God of hope to indwell us. He comes with what is required to combat that which was orchestrated to destroy us.

1 Peter 5:7 says cast your cares\anxiety on Him because he cares for you. Whatever you face today, whatever you have been struggling with, God can fix it on your behalf. He can calm the troubled water of your soul, he can cleanse and make you whole. I promise you that He brings new life to any dead situation (i have proven him for myself). Jesus loves you and wants the best for you. You were not created to worry and stress but rather to cast all the things that give rise to anxiety and fear on him. He is big enough to carry it all hence the reason Christ died.

Be confident in God and not your capabilities. Be resilient amidst life challenges. Find strength from the joy of the Lord.

Hope thou in God.

The song says, there is more that i require of thee. Sometimes being lazy, passive and settling are postures many of us choose because reaching for our dreams and walking in purpose and our God given assignment can be difficult, painful and also requires total yielding to the Spirit of God. Yielding takes us to a place where we see in the Spirit but not yet attain in the natural. Complacency is easy but in this season God is calling you and i to a higher place and space. There is more that is required of us. I hear the Lord saying, /come up higher.’ He wants us to not to be afraid but move by faith. The Lord said to Joshua, Have i not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you where ever you go.’ (Joshua 1:9).

God is calling you out of what is familiar and common to you. I know yo have been trying. You’ve been praying and believing God to move in your favor. God is saying in this season, I’ve come to release the shackles from your feet. I’ve come to grant you, your request. You are free, now move out of the norm into your answered prayers. The ball is now in your court. Do you know the story of the ‘Chicken?’ Chickens in the country are normally tied or locked up in a coop for so long that they don’t know what freedom looks like. They would stay in one space, or even be walking around in the same place within their confines. They however believe that based on their movements, however slowly it is, it means ‘progress.’ The often look out through the mesh and watch people passing them by and even sometimes they would stop to admire them but would not stay long enough to create real connection. They would watch from their ‘prison’ life passing them, day after day. Then one day came, when the owner decides to release those chickens. He removes the rope or string which tied off their feet and or open the door of the coop to give the chickens freedom. Those chickens being in captivity for so long were not able to experience freedom. Captivity was their new normal. They didn’t know what to do with themselves, even when the owner assisted by lifting them up and putting them on the path to freedom, they chose to remain still.

God is calling you to freedom. Now is the time to get up and take it. Move out in your answered prayers. Walk out in your new season because God is with you. Shake normalcy, complacency and familiarity and allow God to take you to places not even your mind can conceive. Be like the eagle, soaring must become your new normal. Get up out of your bed of wondering, negative self talk , shame, guilt and fear. Be courageous. Be strong. Be bold. Be obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit. This is your season, move with intention and precision.

God’s speed.

Life is beautiful amidst the noise in our ears and the dangers we face from time to time. It’s about appreciating the small moments, finding meaning in hardship, or just recognizing the wonder in being alive. God is good and continues to be faithful to us.

Mother Teresa once said, ‘the biggest problem facing the world today, is not people dying in the streets of Calcutta, and not inflation, but spiritual deprivation…this feeling of emptiness associated with feeling separate from God, and from all our sisters and brothers on planet earth.’

As a people, we oftentimes feel empty, alone and believe we are running this race called life alone. I’m here to remind you that we are in this together. The main goal is to keep you motivated and fill the emptiness that you may be experiencing with the Word of God, life’s experiences and to help you find joy in the small things as difficult as they may seem. I’m here to remind you that Jesus loves you unconditionally and He only wants the best for you. Life must be experienced beautifully.
